Art commissions
New to commissioning art?
You’re not alone. Many people have never worked with an artist before, and that’s completely ok.
Let me walk you through my process, step by step.
Why commission original art?
Unique. Created specifically for you, not available elsewhere. I never edition commissions.
Personalised. Deep emotional connection with the artwork. Bring your memories or loves home to enjoy on your wall.
Quality. Original art made using archival materials will last for centuries. Enjoy for years to come, and pass on to future generations.
Get in Touch
It’s never too early to start a no-commitment conversation. You don’t need to know exactly what you want at this stage. Some people start with just a wall they know they want to fill. Others may know exactly what they want. I can chat through any questions - ideas, pricing, etc, with no obligation.
Initial Consultation
We will chat. I will ask questions like where you hope to hang the piece, size, budget, what you like, and what you don’t like. If you don’t know the answer to any of my questions, don’t worry. I will help guide you through.
Proposal & Agreement
I will outline by email a proposal including size, materials, timeline, framing, and fees. I am transparent about fees and there is normally a deposit paid before commencing work. Once you are happy with everything we can agree to get started.
Creation & Feedback
You will have the opportunity to provide feedback and I will listen and make changes. I promise to always be honest and let you know if I don’t think something will work. I want you to feel thrilled with your finished piece.
Delivery
Your completed artwork is delivered directly to you - ready to display, gift, or treasure. On request I am always happy to install the piece on-site. You will also receive a certificate of authenticity and care instructions for your new artwork.
Quality
The quality of materials and craftsmanship in original artworks is typically far greater than in mass produced art.
I use Sennelier oil paint which is a premier tier and professional-grade artist brand known for vibrant pigments. My canvases are all linen which is the gold standard with exceptional durability and archival quality. In comparison to other materials it is less susceptible to contracting or expanding with changes in humidity and deterioration over time - known to last for centuries. The final result is also more luxurious in appearance.
When painting on paper I use archival quality Fabriano Tela paper as I love how it mimics linen. It is designed for oil painting and “Long Life" (ISO 9706) rated.
